Prime Minister Ehud Barak meets with King Abdullah of Jordan |

Prime Minister Ehud Barak met last night (August 16) with the King of Jordan. During the meeting the Prime Minister provided his host with the main Israeli positions in the negotiations with the Palestinians.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Arafat would use the historic opportunity to reach an agreement that would serve the interests of both peoples. The Prime Minister stated that, regarding the Palestinian position, without flexibility and an open mind the necessary breakthrough will not be reached for obtaining an agreement.
Following the discussion, the King hosted the Prime Minister for dinner in his palace.
On the Jordanian side, the participants were the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and other senior officials. From the Israeli side, the participants were Minister Matan Vilnai and senior officials of the Prime Minister's office and the Foreign Ministry.
During the dinner, there was a discussion about the regional meanings of peace agreements and various bi-lateral issues, including water, an airport at Eilat-Akaba, customs arrangements, etc.
The two discussions were held in a very friendly atmosphere, reflecting the good relations between the two peoples and the two leaders.
