Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today (Thursday), 21.7.05, toured the city of
Ariel
and held a working meeting with
Likud MK Yehiel Hazan, Ariel Mayor Ron Nahman and members of the Ariel City
Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Sharon said: “I reiterate
that this bloc is one of the most important and will be part of the State of Israel forever.  There is no other thought or objective.  I had theprivilege of being here when ground was broken for this city; today I have come in order to make every effort to check how it is possible to expand the city and strengthen this bloc, as I am doing with other blocs.  This bloc will always be an inseparable part of the State of Israel and be territorially contiguous with the State of Israel like the other blocs.  Wehad a dream, part of which we have succeeded in realizing and that which we have realized is of supreme importance to Israel in every respect.  This visit is designed to deal with issues on the agenda and I intend to make every effort to deal with the issue of the College of Judea and Samaria
 becoming a university".

Several issues were discussed at the working meeting with Ariel Mayor Nahman
and the members of the Ariel City Council, such as: turning the College into a university, the separation fence
mortgages for young couples, the municipal budget and city industries.

Prime Minister Sharon referred to the issue of incitement: “I hear the incitement.  I hear MKs saying that I am dividing Jerusalem.  I don’t intend even to discuss Jerusalem and even those inciters know that this is a lie.
Moreover, there will be no second disengagement.  To the extent that the
Palestinians dismantle the terrorist organizations and undertake another
whole series of steps it will be possible to discuss the Roadmap.  I want to make it clear that in the agreement with the Americans there is no possibility of pressuring Israel on the issue of security.”

After the meeting, Prime Minister Sharon inspected the work being done to complete the fence in Ariel.
