Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this morning (Monday), 27.2.06, unveiled the new Postal Company stamp at a ceremony that was also attended by Communications Minister Avraham Hirchson and other senior Communications Ministry and Postal Company officials.

Acting Prime Minister Olmert emphasized the breakthrough in the communications market, symbolized first and foremost by the privatization of Bezek and the competition between cellular phone companies: “This is a significant revolution that includes thousands of workers.  Today, we are issuing the stamp that will enshrine the agreements that have already been signed and the reforms that have already been completed.”

Postal Company Chairman Yaakov Edri noted that on 1.3.06, the Postal Authority will officially become the Postal Company and added that the reform began under the previous Communications Minister, Ehud Olmert.

Acting Prime Minister Olmert said that, “The Postal Company needs to prove its efficiency and that it can compete for a wide range of services, and not suffice with its classic functions.  The company has hundreds of branches and any number of commercial activities.”
