Prime Minister Ehud Olmert today, visited the main IDF training base in the south of the country, as the guest of Ground Forces Command. He was accompanied by IDF Deputy Chief-of-Staff Maj.-Gen. Moshe Kaplinsky, GOC Ground Forces Command Maj.-Gen. Benny Gantz, his Military Secretary Maj.-Gen. Gadi Shamni and other senior IDF officers.
Prime Minister Olmert was briefed on Ground Forces Command, its activities and the implementation of the lessons from the fighting in Lebanon. The Prime Minister was presented with recent technological developments, weapons systems and various transport vehicles. He also visited training facilities and spoke with senior regular and reserve Ground Forces Command officers.
