Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this morning met with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband.
Prime Minister Olmert and Foreign Secretary Miliband discussed preparations for the Annapolis meeting and agreed that it is an important international event, meant to move forward the process between Israel and the Palestinians. The Prime Minister clarified that it is Israel's intention to conduct serious negotiations while protecting its existential security interests. The two men also discussed the importance of building Palestinian Authority administrative institutions, especially regarding security capabilities, and the issue of economic investments in the PA.
Regarding the development of bilateral relations between Israel and Britain, Prime Minister Olmert and Foreign Secretary Miliband expressed their desire to expand trade and cultural cooperation.
