Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, this evening , met with Croatian Prime Minister Dr. Ivo Sanader.
The two men discussed bilateral relations and the development of economic, commercial and cultural ties, as well as regional issues.  While the two leaders emphasized that bilateral relations were good, they nevertheless agreed that they must be further developed and enhanced.  The Prime Minister referred to the crucial relationship of the peace process to the stability of the region.  His Croatian counterpart briefed him on the situation in the Balkans, including the latest developments in Kosovo and Macedonia.

On the Iranian issue, Prime Minister Olmert called on Croatian Prime Minister Sanader to reduce his country’s commercial ties with Iran in light of Iranian leaders’ statements and actions, as well as their attempts to achieve nuclear weapons.  The Croatian Prime Minister stressed that Croatia, as a current member of the UN Security Council, is working with the US and the other Western countries on this issue and intends to implement all Security Council sanctions.
