Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today spoke with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and congratulated him on the recent elections and his appointment as Prime Minister. Both leaders said that they ascribe great importance to advancing bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the great progress that has been made in recent years. The two men emphasized the special importance of advancing bilateral security and economic relations. Prime Minister Sharon updated his Indian counterpart on the details of the disengagement plan and the opportunities embodied in its implementation. Prime Minister Sharon, who met his Indian counterpart during his September 2003 visit to India , invited Indian Prime Minister Singh to visit Israel.
