Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met this afternoon with White House representatives Steve Hadley, Elliott Abrams and U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Dan Kurtzer.
At the meeting, which lasted two hours, the parties discussed at length issues relating to progress in the Disengagement Plan, the construction of the security fence and Israeli commitments to the United States, including: the dismantling of unauthorized outposts and humanitarian gestures toward the Palestinian population. The Prime Minister said at the meeting that he remains faithful to the commitments which Israel has undertaken and that he intends to fulfill them soon as possible. During their visit to Israel today, the American representatives met with Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz, the IDF Chief of Staff and the Director of the GSS. In addition, the representatives heard surveys by the Director-General of the Ministry of Justice, Aharon Abramovitch, and the Head of the National Security Council, Giora Eiland, on the various developments and aspects of the implementation of the Disengagement Plan. The American representatives will leave Israel this evening. The parties agreed to continue discussing these issues in the near future.
