Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s Bureau wishes to make it clear this evening (Wednesday), 19.1.05, that at the request of the Palestinians, a security meeting -at the level of field commanders - will take place in order to
coordinate the security steps that the Palestinians are interested in arrying out. 

There is no change in Israel’s statement from the weekend to the effect that diplomatic contacts with the Palestinians will take place
only after the Palestinians have taken tangible steps to halt terrorist actions and the firing of Kassam rockets and mortar shells.
