The Advisory Committee on Senior Positions, chaired by retired Judge Gabriel Bach, today (Tuesday), 1.3.05, began its discussions on the candidacy of Yuval Diskin as the next Director of the ISA.  (The Committee’s other members are Civil Service Commissioner Shmuel Hollander and retired Maj.-Gen. Haim Erez.)

The Committee met today with both Mr. Diskin and with outgoing ISA Director Avi Dichter.

The Committee will continue its discussions tomorrow and will meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.   On the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting are Mr. Diskin’s candidacy to be ISA Director and that of Maj.-Gen. Dan Halutz to be the next IDF Chief-of-Staff.

Following tomorrow’s meeting with Prime Minister Sharon, the Committee will meet with Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Ya ’alon and Maj.-Gen. Dan Halutz on the latter’s appointment.

Upon completion of its discussions, the Committee will issue its recommendations regarding the aforementioned candidacies.
