Following are Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's remarks from the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting today:
"Today, the Cabinet will discuss and approve the establishment of a government inquiry committee that will examine the political leadership and the security echelon regarding all aspects of the campaign in Lebanon. Retired Judge Eliyahu Winograd will chair the committee; its other members are: Professor Ruth Gavison, Professor Yehezkel Dror, Maj.-Gen. (res.) Menachem Einan and Maj.-Gen. (res.) Haim Nadel.
The Cabinet intends to confer upon the committee the powers of a state commission of inquiry, as per the State Commission of Inquiry Law and in accordance with the Justice Minister's decision.
I sincerely hope that the committee will conclude its work as soon as possible and assist the State of Israel in better preparing for future challenges."
