Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this afternoon held a working meeting with Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson and his senior staff. The Finance Minister briefed the Prime Minister on alternatives for financing the NIS 1.9 billion supplement to the defense budget that the latter has decided upon.  The two men emphasized that the state budget would not be exceeded in order to refrain from imposing broad cuts in ministries' budgets that would likely harm the Government's achievements in reducing socio-economic gaps.
