The Senior Appointments Advisory Committee, chaired by retired Judge Yaakov Terkel and including Civil-Service Commissioner atty. Shmuel Hollander and Maj.-Gen. (Res.) Haim Erez, was scheduled to convene today (Tue.), 27.03.2007 ,to sign its recommendations regarding the appointment of Yaakov Ganot as Israel Police Commissioner.

In light of Public Security Minister Avi Dichter's announcement to the Committee yesterday to the effect that Yaakov Ganot withdrew his candidacy for the post of Israel Police Commissioner, the committee decided to refrain from submitting a recommendation thus concluding the respective procedures.

The Committee also found no fault with the candidacy of Benny Kaniak for the position of Israel Prisons Service Commissioner and deemed it possible to proceed with this appointment.

The Committee's recommendation in this matter has been submitted to the Public Security Minister.
