Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, today at Kibbutz Galil Yam, lit Hanukkah candles with wounded veterans of the security forces. The Prime Minister said: “I am very moved by this meeting with you. I am very grateful for your sacrifice. Every Israeli owes you for the heroism and courage that you have shown and that you still show. I do not forget, even for a moment, what you are due. The Government of Israel is making great efforts to improve access for the handicapped to many places in Israel – this is a moral obligation – and we will meet it. Hanukkah symbolizes the victory of the uncompromising spirit, determination, faith and hope over mighty obstacles. You symbolize that same spirit which nothing can overcome. You are a joyous, brave and daring proof of the spirit of this people. Happy Hanukkah to you all.”
