Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is now meeting with the heads of the coalition factions and with the Leader of the Opposition, Likud Chairman MK Benjamin Netanyahu, in order to discuss the economic plans designed to deal with the economic crisis.
Prime Minister Olmert said at the beginning of the discussion:
"I have summoned the faction heads so that we might reach maximum agreement since this is a large-scale plan and national agreement is very important in this case. I also intend to hold personal meetings with several ministers, Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini and Manufacturers Association President Shraga Brosh in order to create the broadest possible agreement on these issues, which are important to the Israeli economy. I thank MK Netanyahu for supporting the Government on this issue. There is no doubt that we must leave political disagreements out of the discussion and formulate a professional stance in order to provide an effective response to the problems of the Israeli economy."
