Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will, tomorrow present the Finance Ministry plan for dealing with the crisis to the heads of the main political parties in order to create a broad national consensus regarding the plan.
At a meeting he convened this evening, with the participation of Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On and senior Finance Ministry officials, as well as senior Bank of Israel, National Economic Council and Israel Securities Authority representatives, Prime Minister Olmert instructed the Finance Ministry to present the plan tomorrow to the heads of the political parties in order, "to create agreement around the plan because without such agreement, there are liable to be side effects that we should not like to deal with."
Prime Minister Olmert also noted: "I have been deeply involved in the steps which have been taken up to now and I would like to commend the Finance Ministry, the Bank of Israel and the Israel Securities Authority for the efficient steps which they have initiated to deal with the crisis."
Prime Minister Olmert instructed that the discussion on protecting pension savings continue and said, "I believe that the model submitted by the Finance Ministry this evening requires integrated staff work by the Finance Ministry, the Bank of Israel and the National Economic Council."
