Land agreement signd : work on trans - Israel highway in Taibeh and Tira regions to proceed. |

Negotiations led by the Director of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's
Bureau, Uri Shani, with the participation of representatives from the
Trans-Israel Highway Company, the Israel Lands Authority, the Public
Security Ministry and the towns of Taibeh and Tira have been ongoing
over the past month.
This afternoon (Wednesday), 31.10.2001, discussions being held at the
Prime Minister's Bureau ended with the signing of a framework agreement
by Minister Saleh Tarif, Prime Minister Sharon's Bureau Director Uri
Shani, the Mayors of Taibeh and Tira and a representative of the
Trans-Israel Highway Company. Witnesses to the agreement were the head
of the Kfar Kassem Local Council, head of the Jat Local Council and the
Chairman of the Supreme Monitoring Committee for Arab Affairs.
The signing of the agreement will allow work on the Trans-Israel highway
to continue while providing fair compensation to the owners of the
land. The Prime Minister's Bureau Director Uri Shani pointed out the
responsibility shown by the mayors and thanked them for their
participation in the efforts to reach a solution.
After the signing of the agreement, Prime Minister Sharon praised the
mayors and thanked them for their efforts. |
