Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, today welcomed Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to Israel and said that he looked forwarded to a fruitful and interesting meeting with him.
Prime Minister Olmert said: "Prime Minister Rasmussen is a true friend of Israel. His visit comes at a very significant time for us, the State of Israel's 60th year. There is no doubt that this attests to the Prime Minister's personal commitment to maintain and strengthen bilateral relations. We hope that we will succeed in deepening links between our two countries during his visit."
Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen thanked Prime Minister Olmert and said: "I am pleased to come to Israel at such an important time, as you celebrate 60 years of independence. Denmark and Israel have a common history and deep ties based on faith in the values and principles of democracy. Israel is a beacon of liberty and freedom in the region."
