Prime Minister Ehud Olmert today, met with Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini. The two men discussed the recent improvement in Israel-European relations and the need to strengthen them even further. They also expressed the desire to strengthen Israeli-Italian relations – inter alia – via the establishment of a joint research and development fund and the signing of a joint cultural agreement.
Prime Minister Olmert and Italian Foreign Minister Frattini discussed the Turkish-mediated diplomatic talks being held between Israel and Syria, and the Israeli-Palestinian talks. They also discussed the Iranian issue and the need to pressure the Teheran regime into halting its nuclear program.
