Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met today with Latvian President Valdis Zatlers. The two men discussed various issues, including bilateral economic cooperation. The Latvian President briefed the Prime Minister on recent developments in Latvia and referred to his country's desire to enhance cooperation with Israel in all fields. Prime Minister Olmert said: "I thank you for your visit and am pleased that we will be able to enhance our relations with Latvia. As you noted, the Israeli economy is stable and continues to grow. Israel has many successful companies that deal in science, tourism and construction, among other fields; I am convinced that your country will be able to benefit from cooperation with them. The Israeli economy has grown impressively in the past two years and this year as well, the forecast is for optimal growth. Cooperation between our two countries could be both fruitful and effective."
