Minister of Tourism Rehavam Zeevi was critically wounded in an assassination attempt at the door of his room in the Jerusalem Hyatt Hotel. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his wounds. The National Front Organization claimed responsibility. Minister Rehavam Zeevi was found by his wife, shot in the head, on the eighth floor of the Hyatt Hotel in Jerusalem, where he was staying.
The police reported that Zeevi was shot at close range by one or two assassins who reached the vicinity of his room and fired three bullets at him. One of the bullets hit his head and the other his neck. The suspects managed to escape.
The Minister was taken to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, severely injured, and the doctors tried to save his life, but in vain. At 10 o’clock in the morning the hospital announced his death: “With great sorrow, I announce that approximately 10 minutes ago, Minister Rehavam Zeevi passed away,” stated the deputy director of the hospital, Prof. Shmuel Shapira.
