Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will tomorrow, 30.11.09, leave for a one-day visit to Germany, at the head of a ministerial delegation. Prime Minister Netanyahu and the accompanying ministers will attend an inter-governmental meeting. Each minister will also hold a working meeting with his German counterpart. Economic Cooperation and Development Minister Dirk Niebel | The Israel-Germany inter-governmental meetings were decided upon in March 2008, at the initiative of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who proposed that the two governments meet biennially in this format. Last year's visit was held in Jerusalem to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence; the current visit is in Berlin.
The main issues on the agenda are:
1. The diplomatic-security issue, especially advancing peace and strengthening Israel's security;
2. Alternative energy and finding alternatives for petroleum in transportation, and environmental protection issues;
3. Strengthening ties in science, technology and infrastructures.
