The ministerial committee on planning and construction reform, chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved the reform plan on the subject this evening.

Prime Minister Netanyahu directed that the Beach Preservation Committee be maintained and that a permanent representative for environmental protection be added to local committees, in addition to the two public representatives who will be chosen by a professional committee.

Interior Minister Eli Yishai, Construction and Housing Minister Ariel Atias, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan and National Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau attended this evening's meeting.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said that, "This is an historic moment.  This is one of the most significant reforms that Israeli governments have implemented."
